FluidMedia was formed in January 2001 by founding partners Keith Adams, Chris Foley, Greg Bobowski, and Greg Snyder. The Cincinnati-based company's founding focus was to use Shockwave (the interactive development software packages Director and its more popular cousin Flash) as a primary tool for web and CD-ROM creation.

The group's experience in A/V development, design, and programming helped to elevate their promotional presentations beyond the then-standard PowerPoint implementations that the public was used to seeing, and their websites provided more involving interaction and animation than ordinary sites of the time. FluidMedia also became a strong developer of CD Business Cards, making the most of these small CD-ROMs with data-efficient, content-rich presentations.

Despite this emphasis on digital media and web deployment, FluidMedia's strengths in print media and general graphic design work have been consistently useful to clients since its inception.
