![]() STUDY OF A CHAPEL |
This portrait is an excerpt from a series of digital photographs taken by Greg Bobowski for Thomas More College in Kentucky. This image touches on themes already existing in the architecture of this chapel, as well as revelling in its age and fortitude as a symbol of spirituality and sanctuary. The portrait alignment emphasizes the verticality of the building, centering its spire in a preternaturally clear sky, a beacon into the heavens. Kissed by the sun (and hugged by a healthy looking shrub), the chapel wears nature well in this pastoral snapshot. The stones of the structure itself and its base wall show equal parts antiquity and strength, as if to project a wisdom of constance and foundation in an everchanging world. At least that's my take on it. |
