![]() ANTHROPOMECHANISM |
Since the dawn of mankind, since the first cave drawings, since hieroglyphics, papyrus, and rice paper -- artists have humanocentrically loved to render themselves in artwork. The self portrait is pretty much required portfolio piece in today's world, and you can pretty much assume that the future will hold the same standard in an appreciative, yet critical, fist. This piece is no exception, although the artist finds himself to be a little more handsome than his angular replica. He also is certain that he is taller. Or is he? In FluidMedia's Virtual Museum, a 3D environment that exists only in a computer-driven world, who is to say that 5 inches there isn't equivalent to 25 yards or so in our own real world? In a digital realm that is rescalable at the click and drag of a mouse, who is to say that the artist himself is potentially but a grain of sand versus this sculpture's galactic cyber-size? Think about it. |
