Sculpture in the digital world can take many shapes and sizes, due to the lack of physical constraints involved. This freedom in design can also take a major turn for the simplistic. Various 3D design programs pride themselves on providing a host of polygonal structures and tools by which all manner of objects might be constructed, from the most basic to the unimaginable. This computer-controlled architecture also allows the torus knot, usually deemed a mathematical nightmare for real-world manufacturing or engineering applications, to take form. Given a few parametric alterations, this serpentine shape can seem to take on a digital life of its own. Please enjoy this bizarrely hypnotic, yet static, exhibit in FluidMedia's Virtual Museum. |
